Film Västernorrland's mission is to strengthen and develop film culture in Västernorrland. We work with three main areas; children and youth, screening and production.
Children and youth
Our priority is to stimulate and develop the film educational activities and to provide opportunities for young people own creativity. Film Västernorrland, in cooperation with active filmmakers, arrange film workshops and projects in schools and at leisure. We support and collaborate on school film activities and continuing education for teachers etc.
Special efforts are being made to develop young film enthusiasts and talents. We offer different activities to realize young people’s ideas. The creators are supported in their projects and can make new connections and share their experiences.
Screening
We also work to provide more film to Västernorrlands citizens in more places. We do this by supporting cinemas and screening organizations by offering financial support, education, business intelligence and networks. Every year we arrange the international film festival Filmfest Sundsvall.
Production
We co-produces about 20 shorts and documentaries each year. Since 2022 we also co-produce feature films and TV drama. It’s important that interesting and urgent films are produced here. It’s equally important that stories, people and places from our region are given space on the regional, national and international film arena.
